Privacy Policy

Thank you for visiting the Weapon Systems Technology Center ("WSTIAC") website, a Department of Defense ("DoD") chartered Information Center ("IAC"), sponsored by the Defense Technical Information Center ("DTIC"). The WSTIAC website is operated by Alion Science and Technology. The following will explain how Alion Science and Technology will handle information collected from you during your visit to the WSTIAC website.

Information automatically collected and stored:

When you visit the WSTIAC website to read pages or download information such as reports, publications or other WSTIAC products, Alion Science and Technology will automatically collect and store the following information only:

  • The name of the Domain from which you entered the Internet (for example, "ABC Company.com" if you use a private Internet access account, or "University of XYZ.edu" if you connect from a university's domain).
  • IP address of user.
  • The date and time you access the WSTIAC website.
  • The pages you visit.

This information is used to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of the WSTIAC site, and to help Alion Science and Technology make the WSTIAC website more useful to our visitors. We do not utilize "cookies" or otherwise collect or track personal information, except as described below.

You may choose to register, send an E-mail, or contact us in a way that provides the WSTIAC website with information that personally identifies you and/or your company. We may use this information to help us gather the data you have requested and generally respond to your message or request. In an effort to respond to your message or request, any information you submit may be viewed by Alion Science and Technology, the Defense Supply Center, other government agencies, contractors of government agencies, and approved or authorized visitors to the WSTIAC website, depending on the nature of your request. Information provided to Alion Science and Technology, the Defense Supply Center, other government agencies, contractors of government agencies, or approved or authorized visitors to the WSTIAC website will remain subject to the Privacy Act of 1974, http://www.usdoj.gov/04foia/privstat.htm. Alion Science and Technology is not responsible or liable for the protection, security, use or disclosure of the information by these other entities following an authorized disclosure by Alion Science and Technology.

Alion Science and Technology may use and disclose to law enforcement officials, and may use and disclose in litigation against the responsible individual, information concerning any person who attempts to attack, intrude upon, alter, or obtain without authorization confidential information from Alion Science and Technology, its subcontractors, or their computers, networks, and information systems.

Alion Science and Technology may release your information pursuant to a court order, a subpoena, or other valid legal process. Alion Science and Technology may also release information in connection with litigation between Alion Science and Technology and you, or between Alion Science and Technology and the Government. Alion Science and Technology will take reasonable steps to protect the information so provided from further disclosure, such as by requesting that the court issue a protective order.

Alion Science and Technology may use information collected for purposes of technical follow-up that we believe may be of interest to you based upon the information we have collected or for advising you about Alion products or services. If you do not want to receive any technical follow-up or information about Alion products or services, then you must contact the WSTIAC website and inform us that you want to opt-out of receiving any such information. If you choose to opt-out, Alion Science and Technology will not contact you for any purposes, even to inform you about relevant technical follow-up reminders, referrals to experts, current survey and summary reports, review and analysis reports, analysis and evaluation reports, databases and resulting paper or electronic handbooks/databooks, state-of-the-art reports ("SOARs"), technical area tasks ("TATs") deliverables, or any developments related to your earlier message or request.

In addition to disclosures otherwise discussed in this Privacy Policy, Alion Science and Technology may release your information to third parties with your written authorization.

Alion Science and Technology will not sell, rent, loan or trade personal data collected from you to third parties, or otherwise use or disclose the information to third parties other than in accordance with this Privacy Policy, without your prior consent.

The WSTIAC website contains links to various other federal agencies and private organizations. Once you link to another site, you are subject to the policies of the new site.

The Children’s On-Line Privacy Protection Act

The WSTIAC website does not knowingly solicit, collect, or accept personal information from children under the age of 13.

Security

Alion Science and Technology and its subcontractors will establish and maintain technical and physical security policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of your information and to prevent unauthorized access to or disclosure of your information.

In accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974 and the WSTIAC Contract, Alion Science and Technology will provide you a reasonable opportunity to access your information, and to correct erroneous information. The process and terms for requesting this access are available upon request.
